If I cross yellow/white sweet corn(SE) with red sweet corn(SE), would the resulting ears be red/yellow, and if not would the resulting kernals at any point grow a bi-colored ear?

Hmm that is a mandel question. Since the two are already hybrid. The end results may not be as expected.

linus you incorrect mendel gentics are bit different with corn.
corn color is determined at pollention.
so is tenderness and sweetness.

I work as a corn breeder assistant. So ,to the best of my knowledge, I would say that if you were to cross the red corn with the white/ yellow corn. You would hopefully be creating a heterozygous line that would have tri-colored kernals. Those resulting seeds may or may not grow tri-colored plants the next season. It depends on weather or not you create a true heterozygous line.

Sorta backwards to original question...if I plant all dark colored seeds from Indian corn, can I expect more dark colored seeds on ears the following year? Peace, Wayne

Mat or Mark what ever you want to be called. His question is would the resultuing kernals at any point grow a bicolored corn.

Ok- question for you guys. What happens if you grow several different colors of indian corn. Would the results be all messed up?
