Here in Indiana alot of us grow sunflowers, tomatoes, watermeleons that are included in our weigh-off pumpkin competitions. So it would be nice to have a small forum....

Many of us have a limited amount of time to read messages so having them put into proper categories helps save people time. I will be moving some of the messages from the General board to this one.

Im growing some tallcorn .It's just broke ground around 30 stalks planted 1ft to 15 " apart,in rear of garden raised bed 18inchs or so in from garden wall. How do you support the stalks when they get over 10 ft tall??.Also would a strong gust of wind snap the stalks"landing or possibly damaging the pumpkin plants.Has anyone here grown tall corn before.Could use extra advise on extra nitrogin latar on in the season how much etc. Thanks john g...

I grew tall corn for a couple of years. As far as wind, the only thing that happened to mine was it got bent over from some thunderstorm winds, none broke. I gave mine a boost of nitrogen by topdressing when it was about 2 feet tall.,other than that it just got what drifted from the pumpkin spraying. When it is maturing, the trunks are like trees, almost needed a chainsaw to get rid of it but its fun adn did provide good mid-late season wind protection. The only drawback is getting rid of the stumps, I had to dig them out in the spring
