If Shannon does not want to run it, I would be willing to organize the Giant Veggie Exchange to keep it alive. I have enjoyed getting the bubbles full of seed giants.

Shannon, please let me know if you need me to pick up the torch.

Thanks, Chris

OK Lets get this thing started then. Nic with an attitiude like that you will get nothing but cat turds. You do not know the history of the Giant Veggie Exchange that has been going on for the last 7 years, and you don't know my history either.

Here are the rules..
Supply 20(or the number of participants) individually packaged seeds of the variety of your choice. They have to be something Giant or something unique. They can be Pumpkin crosses, but they can not be Atlantic Giant. If you want Atlantic Giant join your local weigh off organization.
You must label each individual package with what the seeds are, measurements and weights and who you are. If they have special growing instructions you can throw something in the box and I will attach it to the letter we send out with the exchange.

I request that you send $5.00 for postage and packaging, if we are lucky that covers it. Any left overs are sold to cover extra expenses for the boxes.

Remember this seed exchange occurs because you growers make it happen. Keep the varieties wide and odd.

Send your seeds to
Shannon Engel
4484 132nd Street
Chippewa Falls, WI 54729

Please follow the rules and which makes it really simple for Chardonnay and I to turn these around quickly after they have all arrived. If you can't follow the rules please do not participate.

Just thought I'd mention it in case it can save some $ on postage - The USPS now has there flat rate boxes - the small size (8-5/8" x 5-3/8" x 1-5/8") ships anywhere in the US for only $4.95 and they give you the boxes (as many as you need ! (Just figured you might want to look into it) - Still think a bit extra should be included for the time and to cover the difference in international rates though.

I unfortunately do not have anything to send so will be waiting for next year to get in (hopefully it will be running next year as well (since I've got a few carolina cross seeds and some giant canteloupe seed being sent that I'll be growing this next season so should have seeds for next year !!)

Wayne - I'd agree with you that $10 is a good idea (figure it is gonna take alot of time and effort to organize all of those packages and prepare the labels !) Glad you like the tip - I know it has saved me alot of $ shipping small heavy parts using them instead of Fedex or UPS like I used to.

Also just looked and they also offer the same size boxes for international shipping with a 4 lb. limit - the international rate is $10.95 to Canada or Mexico and $12.95 to any other country !! (so figure $10 apiece should make up the shortage for the international rates and cover the US shipping)
