I'm growing Japanese Imperial Long carrots this year. I'm starting them this week. Any hints?

I started mine last week, so you are right on time! Some start them in January.
Did you start them in a pipe? Some start them in a small pipe that fits into a longer pipe. That way you can put them outside once the weather gets warmer.

Water from the bottom only make the roots work their way to the water.

Thanks, guys. I'm planning on planting seeds in a pot, letting them grow, and transplanting the fastest growers to individual pvc pipes filled with sand.
Any more hints? All offers accepted.
