If it was a skunk you would smell it.

Same thing happed here the last 2 nights. Lost about 20 ears already. I tried a Have-a-heart trap last night but no luck. I just set up a motion light with an alarm attached and light bulbs removed. Patch is just 30 feet from the kitchen window.

Finally talked to Biscuit, and he says...if ears are completely eaten, it's the Republicans (skunks)!!! If a lil eaten off of each ear, it's the Democrats (racoons)!!! His recommendation was to run elec cord, and play music...Rock & Roll (late 60's & early 70's) is my choice!!! Peace, Wayne Gettin ready to krank up the Stones!!!
PS. Larry, what did you bait the trap with?

I have tried trapping here but I quit after catching a coon every night for 7 nights straight. (my conscience was killing me.) Once they are used to eating the corn, you need a really high powered fence to nail them. I was lazy this year and I didn't put my fence up in time. Soooo... the coons got in and got a couple dozen ears the first night. Then I put up a pulsing battery powered fence. The shock was not bad enough so I lost a couple dozen more on that night. Then I put up my super dangerous high powered fence. (The cheap kind that you get for around 36.00 dollars at any feed store. That took care of them. (I only plug it in at night to avoid problems with it.) On a seperate thought, I have never had problems with skunks in my corn patch only coons. Although I do know animals do different things in different parts of the country.

just go out at night with a spotlight and a gun and once you see some glowing eyes shoot in the general direction.
once they start getting in the corn they wont stop till there is nothing left.
