Can anyone advise a good site for growing instructions/tips? I was planning to grow in a wine barrel-
will that work?

Should work fine - you need to get them started pretty soon if you haven't yet as they take a long time to get going (I started 4 about 2 months ago (Jan 26th) and they are still just starting to grow They have about 6 - 8 True Leaves and are about 3 inches tall ( I've heard they can take up 35+ days to germinate ) -- I tried a few last year and gave up on them after they hadn't germinated after 3 weeks and then later read that it could take 6 - 8 weeks ) -- This years germinated in just over 1 week at 90 - 95 F in the germ chamber (they seem to like it pretty hot in the chamber)

The HottestPepper website ( http://www.thehottestpepper.com/how-to-grow-bhut-jolokia-seeds.html ) has some pretty good info on growing them.

I grew Ghost Peppers last year and put them in the garden with the rest of the peppers. In fact I treated them just like any other pepper. At the end of our short season I had beautiful plants but no peppers. Then I read something from a guy who has grown them for several years and he said they take 165 days. So this year I sowed them indoors in January and then transplanted them to 2 gal. Nursery pots a few weeks ago and put them in the greenhouse. They have been under lights since they came up. They are now about a foot tall and covered with blossoms. I will be taking them away from the lights soon but I will keep them in the 2 gal. pots for the rest of the season. They will stay in the greenhouse until the weather gets to where I can harden them off and keep them outside. Peppers are a perennial in their native habitat(like South America) so if you have them in large pots you could bring them inside in the fall if you had to. I might add too that the number of days on the seed packet said 85. Wrong. Hope this helps some. Good growin' for 2012!
