If I took pumpkin seeds out of the pumpkin, with gooky pumpkin slime still on them, put them directly into a bag and then into freezer, would I be able to thaw them at a later date and then clean them or do they have to dry first before freezing-or would it make no difference? Possible military deployment at the end of the year, thinking of what I might have to do to save time if I leave earlier then expected.

You won't be happy with the results and germination would be decreased. I would recommend letting someone in the area know when they available for harvest and we will gut that puppy and dry them for you. You have more things to worry about than some pumpkin seeds
