I have an issue with growing corn. The plant only gets around 2 feet tall and produces no ears. Is there not enough nitrogen? Also maybe I am planting too late, what is the best time to plant in zone 6?

Plant when soil temp is 50° or higher at sunrise. Best advice I can give is do a soil test. Results and recommendations will surprise you. Just got mine back for 2 acres of sweet corn. Everything in the low adequate range or higher and they recommended in pounds: 240-N, 50-P2O5, 110-K2O, 10-S, 3-Z. Split applications on N & K but separate. etc. etc. Plus irrigation.

I had been following fertilizer recommendations from test in the past but too hard headed to irrigate. Did it last year and yield DOUBLED on marketable ears.

Thanks for your help. I will try a soil test, fertilizer, and some sort of irrigation. Thanks!
