I was wondering if anyone knew where to find someone that lays rows of black plastic mulch. I was looking to have some put in my garden next year, but do not know what the best route in finding someone. Beside driving and finding a farm that does it, and see if I paid them if they would come over and do my garden.

Try your county agent. They may know of someone doing some type of plasti-culture farming. A lot of melons, tomatoes, squash, strawberries, etc. grown here that way. Some counties here have equip for rent. It takes a good size tractor to pull a mulch layer if your doing raised beds.

So I have laid plastic mulch by hand and well it can be done. Heres how I use a tiller to create rows on both sides. Put a pipe into the roll end and then roll away I use a rope connected to the pipe rolls out fast I go 10 ft a time. Doing one side then pulling the other side tight. But dont forget to add your drip tape first.

Heres what I would do call up vegetable farms and see who uses plastic mulch. Sometimes farmers rent the mulch layer by the day. (A farmer here rents his very basic mulch layer for $100. aday.)

So I am not sure where u get your plastic mulch but I get mine from two places. Robert Marvel, and Noltes produce supply.net WE bought our mulch layer from Noltes and buying the seat was a very smart moove.
When you ask about a mulch layer There are a couple types Raise bed mulch layer that makes a raised row and lays mulch over it. Flat bed Mulch layer. This is what I use I love mine.
Make sure that when your asking about mulch layers find out how many drip tape attachments they have. I can lay 4 at a time but theres a trick to it. Most just lay two.
Also The first 30 ft I always have trouble with but it always work out. I have found that I till my soil and I dont have any problems laying it.
