Where do carrot seeds come from? If I have a carrot I like and want to plant it next year, how do I harvest the seeds? where are they? anybody know. Thanks

carrots are Biennial, if left in the ground or re planted, they will flower the second year, then of course they produce seeds

So, after I replant it I then get the seeds? there will be no seeds tell I plant it and it gets a flower,,so I will have to wait a year?

if you replant your carrot, you should get new green growth from the top, from which the flower and seeds will come,
so this year you will get seed.
if you start from seed this year it will take 2 years normally,,

If you want to save seed from carrots or turnips you first need to know if they are F1 Hybrids, if they are then you will not get the same carrot from your new seed. If they are an open pollinated variety then do as awesome1 says.

With turnips I think you need more than one for cross pollination(self incompatible) not sure about carrots? David is exactly right hybrids won't reproduce true so saving seeds from them would probably be a waste of time.
