Anyone growing raspberrys and dealing with the Spotted Wing Drosophila? I am doing my best to spray but they are a horrible pest, last year I lost over 8 lbs of berries and I just have a small patch. If you dont have the SWD well, they are on the way.

Thanks for the head up. I was not even aware of them. I will have to relocate my patch next year as the patch is overtaken with bindweed.

I didn't see this last summer but I'll chime in. in 2012 we had a horrible year with SWD and they weren't even supposed to be in our state yet. The last two year we have made a concerted effort to pick every berry and spray a minimum of every 10 days. Keeping a clean patch, i.e. no over ripe berries, is half the battle. I use a spray rotation of either Pyganic or Entrust, mixed with M-Pede insecticidal soap. all three are OMRI listed pesticides. the last two year we have had almost no damage, but we also had very late and very cold Springs.
