anyone got any good tips for brussell sprouts i grew them last year and had nice plants but really small brussell sprouts on them maybe the size of a dime ,lol, i did not top the plant ealry maybe that was my mistake??? any help would be apreacted ive got 6 in the ground now ,would like to get a harvest this year!!!! pizza

They are a major feeder. Fertilize with organics, a lot of nitrogen. Do not harvest until after 1st frost

make sure you heel them in well, or they will not form properly,
I have never taken the tops out unless I want to eat them myself, tops are real tasty ;-)

pete i normally dont start themhere till,, mid to late june,, heat makes them, bolt,, they are hvy feeders as LVP stated, i do start them, indoors about 4-6weeks before i put them outside

This is my last try at sprouts. I tried red sprouts and some other varieties that are common to everyone, never more than a handful of sprouts in return. This time, I was lucky to receive a gift of some seeds that commercial farmers use - the variety is "GUSTUS" which is a F1 hybrid. I started them early and at this moment they are easily a foot and a half tall and some sprouts are forming,which is a little early. I can't see these failing this year, and remarkably bug free.
