I don't know to much but I have grown several varieties for the past few years. They are somewhat tolerant of dry conditions. But to get nice tall ones you will need to keep them watered well in good OM soil. You can get multiple heads by pinching them back early in the season. If not they will form a single huge head. The seeds can be harvested in the fall and you will have plenty for the following year. I have grown sunflowers in all types of soil conditons as well. They need full sun and some wind protection will be required from summer T-storms. Sunflowers require only minimal care. Good luck.

Go to Gardens Alive and consider a can of Bee Scent if you are looking for the biggest and the best.
