What’s the best concert you ever attended? I was pretty bummed out about the Carlos Santana & Earth, Wind, and Fire tour getting cancelled this year. I feel like that one would have been one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

It’s a close call for second place, but so far the best concert I have attended was a Roger Waters tour for The Dark Side of the Moon. There was no supporting act; it was about 3 hours of music by Waters and his band. Syd Barrett had passed away recently, so they did a nice slide show tribute to him while performing “Wish You Were Here” in their first set, which featured Waters solo songs and Pink Floyd songs. The second set was The Dark Side of the Moon and then they closed with an encore of 3 songs from The Wall: “Vera Lynn”, “Bring the Boys Back Home”, and “Comfortably Numb”. The music and the stage production were both fantastic. That was in 2006 and I can remember it like it was yesterday.

Wedding gift from my wife - George Strait inaugural concert at a sold out Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The night before we went to a rodeo in Fort Worth, and befriended a local Dallas couple who ended up giving us a ride to and from the concert (with many stops at local watering holes between). Just a very good time.

Truckin, I like Floyd, but I am pro Gilmour.

P.S. in general, shows in large venues aren’t very intimate and can sometimes feel overproduced, but that Roger Waters show didn’t feel that way. The tribute to Syd Barrett that I mentioned was very moving and really connected with me in the audience. That’s something that was very unique about that concert.

I like Waters and Gilmour both. It’s a shame that their relationship burned out (in most part due to Waters’s ego). They made amazing music together and neither one of them reached that same level after they split.

I had Waters tickets for September but it was cancelled due to Covid. I did see him a few years ago for The Wall tour. The best stage production ever. I’ve seen quite a bit. The best that came to mind was Stevie Ray Vaughn real close two weeks before he died. Black Sabbath n 1999 and their reunion a couple of years ago. Buckethead (who the hell is that?) two years ago 3 feet away from me. Three years ago taking my son to his first concert and it happened to be KISS 7 rows from the stage. Megadeth in a small theater. TOOL with my two coworker buddies in Vegas last January. What a great time that was. TOOL was slated to play near my town in March. My friend came down from Alaska for his once in a life time experience. March 11th we partied the night before, stayed right across from the venue to get in line for their limited concert posters, opened up my phone in the morning and it was cancelled due to Covid! That was the beginning of the end for concerts in person. My wife and I will live stream KISS for their last concert ever on New Years Eve! Time for those old boys in spandex to give it up! Live music, one of the best experiences.

Hard to answer just one because I have seen Waters, Floyd minus Waters, Stevie Ray many times but the A.R.M.S concert at Madison Square Garden in 83'. Clapton, Beck, Page, Joe Cocker, Paul Rodgers and many more. It was a fund raiser for Ronny lane and MS, too bad Page was in the throws of heroin addiction.

Yeah lots of variables. Was the band on that night. Were they sober. Was the venue acoustically shitty. Small more intimate crowd. Large unruly crowd. Your state of mind, lol.

You all have seen some great acts live. That’s one thing I’m really looking forward to in 2021: going out to experience live music again. Happy New Year!
