Im from liberal kansas does it matter much if the seeds are from the same climate? Its hot and dry mostly?? Anyone have seeds avail.? Thanks DougH

It might matter for proper patch orientation. Looks like you'll need heat tolerant seed that leans left before lying down. LOL

I grew up in Kansas and think that the biggest challenge in growing a big pumpkin there would be wind. You're going to need a pretty serious wind block or your plant will constantly be stressed by the daily winds which Kansans don't even seem to notice until they move away for a few years and then come back for a visit. A few hundred 20-30 inch leaves on a plant would make it into a vining parachute, assuming that they would make it long enough to grow to that point. My solution was to move to Northern California.

The only problem I see is that the seeds might keep fip flopping back and forth on what the want to grow!! First a pumpkin then a squash then back to pumpkin.....LOL

Steve - I thought you might be asking him if there was a "conservative" KS.
Doug - there are a ton of free seed out there. You can get some of the best genetics out there with a nice letter and a self addressed bubble pack. Check out the seed exchange board.....
