In my ongoing search for knowledge about growing AG's, I spent some time yesterday looking at older growers diaries. Somewhere along the way...I dont remember whose diary...I read that the grower thought a lack of male flowers was caused by burying the vines too early. Questions are: 1. Is this possible? 2. At what point in time should you bury vines? Thanks for all info. Wayne

If you bury the new vine deep enough. Yes. We normally leave a few feet of new vine exposed. I naturally follows the trench dug for it.

How deep do you bury the vine?

Last year was my first year and I made the mistake of burying the main vine. This caused a reduction of flowers in general. Next year I will only bury secondary vines and may use an alternate mathod of temporarily anchoring the primary. i.e. cut off coat hangers.
