Howdy,
Having grown the generic store-bought seeds in the past, I'd like to try something bigger and better this year. I'm not looking for a world's record or anything. Heck, I wouldn't even know where to begin, which is the point of this post.
Could someone please recommend good seeds to begin with and possibly an online chart of what type of seeds usually produce the larger pumpkins? I live near St. Louis, if the region matters with which seeds would do better.
Thanks.

Welcome to the hobby. You will find that most growers will gladly give new folks seed for free if you send a self- addressed stamped bubble pack. Get to know a few of the folks on this site either by email or going to the chatroom. You will be amazed at the generosity and helpfulness. The big ones are all Atlantic Giant pumpkins, but you will find the seeds you get from individuals will bring you much better results than anything you will find in a store. Feel free to drop an email my way and I'll get you some seed or check out the seeds available at mainepumpkins.com. In any case, be prepared, once you start growing giants, your addicted. Good Luck, Bill

Hello OBW,
Welcome but be forwarned. This hobby/sport has caused loss of sleep, loss of money, domestic issues, heartache & other forms of misery.
That aside, our "spobby" is also loaded with good people, a genuine sense of satisfaction, & an all around fun time.
www.aggc.com is the place for genetic information. The site is closed to new members, but non-members are allowed access to valuable information. You can find it in the "links" section of this website.
Send me a private email with your mailing address too. Good seeds will post shortly thereafter.
Welcome!
Steve
