What percent Imidacloprid? If you're handy with math, you need .2#AI/A.

Be ready to check this math with a calculator. It's been a long day. LOL If I don't screw this up this post will be worth keeping for future reference

What is .2AI/A ??????

In agriculture that is the standard abbreviation for "two tenths of a pound of active ingredient per acre" which is the normal rate for consumer imidacloprid products. Pro versions are .3#AI/A so we need to adjust for that value.

.3 divided by 1.47%.
That consumer branded material is a liquid which weighs about 10lbs/gallon. As such 10 x .0147 = .147 lbs per gallon.
<Pro liquid contains 2 lbs per gallon>
<Obviously the 2F pro stuff is a lot more economical despite the higher initial cost per gallon.>

Pumpkins need .3 lbs so...
.3 divided by .0147 = 20.4 gallons per acre.
1 acre = 43,560 sq ft so....
20.4 gallons = 2612 oz per acre divided by 43.56 = 60 oz per 1000 sq ft.

Therefore we need 60 oz of the 1.47% Bayer Tree & Shrub to treat 1000 sq ft at the correct rate a farmer or other professional grounds applicator would use.

There is nothing economical about those little blue bottles of retail branded Merit but applied properly they work exactly the same as the pro materials.

Tell Ed I'm sorry to hear of his lightning woes. I hope no one was hurt!

I got zapped by lightning once. Just standing in an open doorway (wrong place during lightning) but knocked me off my feet & threw me 10' across the living room. Scared the cr@p out of me.
