i have about 60 to 70 surface cracks on the back side (stem area) most are about 3 inches long and 1/4 inch wide a couple are about 8 inches X 1/4 inch wide they're getting worst est. weight 480 lbs. this is my first year growing ag's. i really want to make the oct 3th weight off. can i do something or is it over?

This fruit is probably finished. You can try disinfecting with 10% bleach

A friend of mine had one that finished the season OK. It looked really weird. See my 2003 or 4 diary.

Thanks, I saw the picture and it gave me hope...This year taugh me to appreciate ag growers and what they go thru. I have a deeper respect for all who grow ag's.

Great news all cracks have healed. one concern left, where the stem meets the pumpkin's flesh, it's cracking on the top part. I've cut more roots on the main vine hoping to relieve pressure. Any advice? by the way "Tremor thanks for your advice it worked!!! I can't thank you enought"
