when should I send in a plant sample? this is for next year.

It depends - if you mean a soil sample, do it as soon as you have harvested. This will give you an idea of what to do for the fall and winter in terms of cover crop, amendments, manure, etc. Then send in one in the spring so you can amend before planting. If you mean a tissue test (leaf sample), that would depend on if you are looking to correct a disease problem or a deficiency in your plant uptake. We send in tissue samples every few weeks as part of a study but also as soon as we notice any problems to be proactive on disease. Good luck!
