Fodder, I will try and answer your question (i think). Compost made from worm is called Vermicompost. It is made by worms whom consume organic material that microorganism have broken down. The finish product is the best compost PERIOD. It can then be used to spread on the patch or in compost tea. Most people start small with a couple pounds of RED WORMS, which can be found most anywere. Let me know if this isn't what you needed.

It depends Pumpkinman, If you raise them in Rubbermaid tubs, you can just keep them indoor or a garage. HOWEVER even if you have a pile out back worms have shown to SURVIVE through the winter on there own. Some will die, but most will most to the center and live.

I still have my worm bin but throw them buggers in the patch with the vermicompost and they are thriving in both and it gets cold here. Whenever possible during the winter spray the patch with everclear it helps keep them warm.
