i need to add lime to may patches, but i added a lot of leaves tilled and on top, should i spray the leaves with molasses first to get the leaves started breaking down,or put the lime down first? also how do i mix the molasses to spray? the leaves are mostly maple.THANKS AND GOD BLESS, GLEN

the molasses will do little to break down the leaves in the winter because the microbes in your garden are not really that active until the warmer weather arrives in soring @summer.most will leach out over the winter.

a lot of growers compost their leaves first, getting them broken down and ready for the patch at any time of the year.
a food ready source .

if adding in the fall is a necessity then id reccommend cutting them up with the lawn mower before tilling in.

in the spring while those leaves that did not break down during the winter are decomposing? they are tying up the nitrogen in your soil.so in the future mowing them into small pieces really helps a lot.
