First off let me say Happy Holidays everyone!!

I am a new grower In the CT area. I sent out soil sample to the Ct agricultural experiment station (free). results came back...crop to be grown grass...(scratched my head on this one,
soil text. sandy loam
organic matter medium
PH 4.8
nitrate nitrogen medium
ammonium nitrogen low
phosphorus medium
potassium low
calcium medium
magnesium medium-high

I guess you get what you pay for...nothing any suggestions
or suggestion where to send soil sample in the spring?

Other question any suggestions on how to remove 20 -24 inches of amendments that have been added....lol snow!?!?!?

with a ph of 4.8 you not going to grow much of anything unless you get quite a bit of lime into the soil.
your ph needs to ne around 6.7 to 7.2 ---the quanity will be reccommended from any good soil test organization.
always state pumpkins when getting a soil test. we use umass with good results.

I added 150lbs of lime in November along with 15 yards of well aged manure/compost. I will send another sample out to Umass early spring.

Your lime will take a few months to activate and show improvement on a test.
