This will be my first year growing giant pumpkins. I received 1 seed from a seed exchange. What would be the best way to germinate it without it dying. Also if anybody has any good tips to share i would be willing to listen

Thanks

You could let a SNGPG member germinate it and send it in the mail to you from RI. It worked for Don Young last year...Or file the edges a little...soak it for a couple of hours and place it in the seedling dirt mix in a peat pot which is kept at 80-90 degrees f and it should germinate in 3-5 days...make sure the soil is moist and not too wet...

If you want more seeds, shoot me an email. I will give you my address and you can send me a stamped bubble envelope. My pumpkins weren't that huge but have good genetics. And I will send you enough so you can do some tests first.

Benjoe, send me your address to minok2014@yahoo.com if you want some seeds from 400+ lb pumpkins. Make all your mistakes on the small ones, then grow the BIG ones.

BenJoe, Iowegian has seeds with good genetics, the reason they didn't reach their potential was because they got flooded. I would send him a bubble.
