Ok, I am trying to grow a 100+ pound pumpkin.
I recently acquired some fresh dills atlantic giant seeds.
I was going to start them indoors in early may, and plant them in my outdoor mound which I just finished preparing.
I am confused on how long to keep the vines.
On many sites, I heard to grow the plant in a triangle shape, and set the pumpkin on the main vine 10-12 feet from the root.
But, the person I got the seeds from disagrees.
They said to only let the main vine get to 10-12 feet max, and the secondary vines to 3 feet max.
So what is the best strategy for vine pruining to get a large pumpkin?

Vine pruning patterns is not an exact science. So far there is no BEST way. Read the following.

If your goal is 100# that method might work but that same plant could have a 1000#'er in it with good care and alot of work. For that you will need to learn more, lots more.

pumpkin on the main from 10 to 15 ft out.Let your secondaries get 8 to 12 feet.use those guidelines to get your plant to maximize the space youve given it.400 to 600 square feet for a monster
