I'm wondering if I'm right on my calendar for pollenation of my fruit.... I'm wnting to enter one in the Canfield Fair in Ohio which is the first week of September. AmI correct in that it's roughly 80-100 days for fruit maturity on a AG? I see that for the october weigh-offs folks pollenate in late June early July so I'd just move up my pollenation date a month to late may early June right?? I just got my first male flower this morning and it'll be open tomorrow. Am I also correct that I can pull the pumpkins off now until I'm ready to pollenate??

Thanks and happy growing,
DUSTIN

You are correct on your assumptions however I almost can't believe that you have male flowers already... your electric meter must really be spinning! Or do you have a professional style poly tunnel?

I have a diary started but I'm not sure if I stated or pictured my hut. I have a 6x7' diy pvc hut with a space heater set for 63 at night and off during the day. Temps get well over 90 if I dont open it up. I'll run out and snap a picture in a few. I looked about a half an hour ago and the flower looks to have opened and closed already. Not to worry, there's plenty more visable. Thanks for checkin out my post. Any help or advice is WELCOME WITH OPEN EARS!!

Im totally jealous! I wish my vine was that far along. Im hoping to have a pumpkin by the end of July, nothing huge just something to enter our county fair.

Tammy - LOL I started way early but plan on a september fair entry. We'll see how things go. Flowers are starting everywhere now :-)

Wayne - I'm gonna try to keep up with pinching them off. Yesterday there were 3, today there's another 4 more...oh my...the ride begins :-)
