How many days of no gains before you cut the pumpkin free of the vine?

What day are you on? As another new grower Tammy, from what I hear is days 1-4 are slower growth, but then it really picks up after that. Maybe cull on days 10 - 15 once you start seeing their true growth.

The pumpkin Im concerned about is on day 26 its estimated at only 98 lbs. My other pumpkin was over 250 lbs by then, so Im sure it wont be a giant, I just wonder if I should cut it now or give it more time.

Do you have any others pollinated on that plant ? - If not then I'd just let it grow to see if it speeds up later and try to get another pollination going in the meantime and see how that one starts off before culling poor Hugo.

Nope no other possibles, Hugo is an only child LOL
I snapped the main and had to pollinate on a side vine, I havent had any other female blooms and the vine has practically stopped growing. This looks like the end for my 763 Young :(

I had one stop growing early and I couldn't figure out why for a couple days. Then finally realized it had split at the blossom end.

Do you see any tertiaries (3rd stage growth) under the canopy that may have snuck by you ? If so you can try to let one grow and it may throw you a female in a week or so. Still a lot of time to grow one.

One question for you -- Does the plant seem to be lacking in root growth on the leaf nodes ?? -- I had to pull my 763 last week after the final pumpkin on it aborted and all of the sides\main had gotten soft\stopped growing due to the heat and when I pulled the plant I noticed it had very little secondary root growth on the leaf nodes (pretty much the entire plant was being supported by just the stump) so was wondering if yours was the same. (perhaps that is what is keeping Hugo from growing as well)
