snip third stage growth as soon as you see it starting to show off the secondary vine.

ps--make sure your snipping off the third stage growth and not the male flowers. easy to see difference but easy to also prune if in a hurry.
after all fruit on your plant have been pollinated. prune flowers as well as third stage growth.

you will have pop up teritaries that you may have missed when pruning and some will develope all season at different places. my advice is to place walking boards between some secondaries on each side of the plant to have internal access without compacting your soil too much. it is essential if the tertiary grows a bit before popping above leaf level to find the beginning of that tert and whack it right at the secondary it grew from and carefully remove that section without damaging leaves if it has gotten long enough to inertwine a bit in the interior. if you just snip the end when they pop up, you will later have a jungle developing as that tert will throw quads at each junction and so on. good pruning equals no wasted growth energy and better airflow for preventing diseases.
