Not having an irrigation system, when I water my pumpkins is ok to just water at and around the stump, or should I be watering along the length of the vines? How often should I be watering them and how much water should they be getting? Can I water them too much? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks Joe.

JOE, WATER THE WHOLE PLANT AREA, FROM 50 TO 100 gal per plant per day depending on your soil drainage.

Many guys also don't water very close to their main stumps now to prevent rot or foaming stump. Like Bill said, water the whole plant to promote root structure and bury all vines at the nodes at least. Large tap roots will develop which need water as well. Consistency in your soil's moisture level is key. Never let it dry out, but don't over do it (it depends on your soil type and size of patch to say how much water). Hopefully some more experienced growers can help.

Also something I've caught on to is to not use the water from the cold ground (well or city), fill a storage barrel and let it reach air temperature. Or many incorperate catching rain water into barrels! Seem like a good idea to me, one of the little things I can do on a small budget. BSD, David
