The two most healthy plants in our garden have main vine splits about an inch up from the soil this morning. What causes this? Too much fertilizer or water? They haven't even started to lay over yet. I put some Daconil on the split and posted pictures on my diary. Thank you for any advice.

Marty,

I just looked at your diary. You might want to try putting small stick like bamboo or hard plastic garden stake near vine and strapping with a little wire or twine to keep it from moving. How are you going to get the plastic container out?

The plastic container is just a 1 1/2" ring that is aleady cut and overlapped. I can probable go ahead and take them out now from the three larger plants. Thanks for the tip.
