Wow I made that cut on the broken main and she is taking off running. BUT how do I get that vine to lay down? I did search bury vine and came up with any talk with the word bury and vine in it. I did put more dirt under the vine so the drop off the mound isn't as far. I am using the coat hanger as weight. But that is how I broke the main. Can I get any ideas from you all. I am going to camp until Sat. I know I'll have to climb a laddler to get her to lay down. Everyone is so much help, thank you all. Got a three hour nice rain today. Ed

Ed, support vine from underneath...x of bamboo skewers (or bamboo stakes, if it real tall)...and slowly reduce the heighth of the x daily...during the heat of the day (if possible). Slowly ease yer new main down to the ground over a period of several days. Top support (another x) is also important to help protect from wind whipping the new main around. Hope this helps!!! Peace, Wayne
PS...it might need several sets of x's above and below! Mounding soil underneat to lessen the distance to fall, is also a possibility!!!

What wayne is saying is correct. The weight of the vine(as it gets2-3ft long) is what will bring it down.Dont try to pull it down.Keep it supported so it doesnt kink and come down all at once.as wayne suggested work in the hot part of the day.lower your support bamboo a little at a time.It will come down in two days or so once the airborn part gets long enough and heavy enough
