Is hope lost if I do not have an "S" curve on my plant. The fruit is set at the midpoint of the vine at 11 ft and buried up to 7ft. I have not buried any of the vine after the fruit. I hope this is not to big of a problem because this is the only one I have because my backup plant has aborted.

The vine can be repositioned after the pumpkin easily if you take you time and are careful. I have moved vines on 4 of my plants this yaer and put in a curve.

Ok, where do I start to do this? I have roughly 11 to 12 feet of vine after the pumpkin. Will I have to cut the roots at the leaf junctions or allow the main to grow and start the curve at the end of the vine. Does it matter where the curve is at or that it is just there somewhere.

Start shoving stuff under the main vine to prop it up...this will create some needed slack for later

No, all is not lost if you did not do the s-curve with your vine.

Its more delicate work, but you can move the fruit to 90 degrees on the vine when they are smallish (soccer ball to beachball size.

A little bit at a time over the time-span of a few days to a week, you can gently move it to get the desired angle.

I use a small wedge of styrofoam (like a door stop) and gently lift the pumpkin and move it aside, while my wife puts the wedge in place....a small bit at a time and very gently...it can be done!

Good luck!

Thanks for information...I have already got the fruit pretty darn close to a 90 degree angle to the vine and have styrofoam supports under the vine. Hopefully all will be alright.

Is this where the sling would help? I didn't get mine turned all the way. So I am slinging it. Hoping and watching that the pumpkin don't grow to fast and snap off. I got styrofoam everywhere. Hoping that the pumpkin will push the vine out of it way. I adjust things everyday in the afternoon.

u can make the vine move as it grows just use lots of popsicle sticks or dead branches and make a row for the vine to move like a s curve and watch it grow how u want it to grow if you see female flower the vine grows 3 feet before it matures try to catch it before the flower matures.
