Hello Newbies!

Can someone please help me identify this? See the 3 photos on August 8th. I am growing a Prizewinner Hybrid, not an Atlantic Giant, if that makes a difference.

It is probably too late to fix, but maybe I can slow it down. Or learn my lesson for next year. I've got lots of those! :)

Thanks!

Maybe this will help identify what it is.

Looks like it might be spray damage. Do you spray any pesticides?

Thanks, for the link. Lots of great photos there. It does look similar to the photos for spray damage, however I have not sprayed anything all season long.

On Monday, I did spray Fung-onil after I took the photos. We are supposed to have a break in the rain, at least for a day or two. Maybe that will help. I'll keep an eye on it.

Looks like disease of some kind, with these links you should be able to get a better idea of what it is and how to battle it. First link is my favorite for identification, but there are other good ones here too.

Thanks Glenn,

Diagnosing this is like Google-ing "headache", every link seems to say you have a brain tumor when the odds are, it's just a headache.

I'm leaning towards Gummy Stem blight because of the way some of the fruit have turned brown (black rot?). It seems to be somewhat common disease. Most of my unset or very young fruit has turned brown and fallen off. The two pumpkins that are more than 14 days old seem to be untouched, for now.

i think the pumpkin female flower was going to abort before pollination and it got pollination then grew with stem decay
if the flower closes and 3 days later water builds in flower and starts to decay from still water in the flower from humidity then the pumpkin gets pollination from insects or bees and grows with large scare on it or brown birth mark lol
better to hand pollinate the flower better luck next time.
