I couldn't get my pumpkin to a weigh-off this year so it's still in the garden. So we are planning to have the biggest jack-o-lantern in the neighbourhood this year. It taped close to 500 lbs so I'm pretty happy with that seeing how it's my first year.

The first frost finally came two days ago and killed the plant. I went to check on it today and found hundreds of cucumber beetles actually eating the pumpkin - putting holes in it. Anybody else have this experience. They bothered the plant early in June, but I haven't seen any since then.

Cuke beetles can carry nasty diseases, some of which can overwinter in your soil. Fry the little buggers.
