Well hello. This is my first year growing AG's, or anything for that matter! I have 4 plants in the ground, all transplanted on the 8th of June. My two best plants are 430 SUNDSTROMS, they are at 6 ft with nice large leaves. I also have a 683 DILL that has JUST recently dropped and started to vine out (shes a slow go but looks nice and healthy). My other one is a 543 CARTWRIGHT which has become a problem child, due to a stem crack at the trunk and secondaries that are longer than the main!! very odd looking plant. Anyway, on to my question. Should I be considering cross pollinating, all plants have good genetics behind them, or should I just wait and see what I have to work with when the time comes. I am assuming that I will have females by mid July.
thanks for any input Graham

I know too little to contribute much to the genetics questions. But there are some generally held theories behind selection of cross potential. Just wait till one of the genetic people see this thread. Joze may chime in when he's not in the patch.

Unless you are one of the genetic nutballs that is trying to make the perfect seed, I'd say the descision becomes dependent upon which plants appear to be the cream of the crop. In this sitution, application of survival of the fittest is probably the best choice. Choose the best looking plant (based on vigor, growth habits, heat tolerance, etc) and use that as your pollen source. And yes, this means you will probably have one self-pollination in the batch!

thanks for the input folks! I should probably be more concerned with having successful pollination in the first place. Cheers
