This early afternoon I pulled up some of my vines. They had alot of roots on them. The last pumpkin didn't take, so I pulled it up where the new pumpkin was. I came home to check on them, but the leaves were wilted some where the roots were exposed. Will my plant ajust it's self, or did I do the wrong thing?

The plant will adjust itself with some time.
Use a sharp knife next to sever the axilary roots under the leaf nodes. The plant won't be as shocked with all of the additional vine movement.
good luck
