Hello everyone, I'm Dave from Northumberland, Northern Engalnd. I've just bought some 'Big Max' seeds and I planted them in some compost yesterday. They're in the conservatory which is at 10'C - 33'C.
My friend at work said he's bought the same seeds and he's thrown down the gauntlet! I've got 'til hallowe'en to grow one bigger than him, so I'm after all the advice I can get!!! Please help me folks, the challenge is on!!

Hi Dave, my father in law is from Northumberland, the names Miller. Use Atlantic giant seeds, the ones we use here, they get much bigger than the bigmax kind (record now is 1818pounds). Make another posting in the Seed exchange forum (a few down from this one) ask for seeds, the grower will give you the seeds free, you pay for the shipping, you send them a self addressed stamped bubble envelope.

Dave, stop now, throw that Big Max into the compost pile, and get some seeds from the growers on this site! The pedegreed atlantic giant seeds that we have vs. Big Max? No contest! As long as you use accepted growing techniques. Go to the seed exchange board, and find someone offering free seeds. It's that easy. Good luck!

Dave, send me an email (peter.geyelin@gmx.com) and I'll send you some quality seed and growing instructions. Your at least 4 weeks too early to be sowing and should be looking at a planting date between 7th April - 1 May depending on both the weather and if you are growing under cover or not.
