After the seedlings sprout and I transfer them to their one gallon pots to go under the lights, should I use a little patch soil or is that a no no?

There are at least two reasons for the addition of a little patch soil, 1) to make it easier for the little plant to cope upon transplantation and 2) to already have some more nutrients available during the next days in the pot (because many seed starting mixes are low in minerals). Therefore, a strong seedling should take advantage of the additional patch soil. As I plug my seeds in large pots, I don´t transfer-pot them after sprouting. Therefore, I´ll try to serve issue #1 by layering the plant spot in the patch with some potting soil mixture.

So, a little garden soil it is! Thanks Pumpking! A couple of the "Real Deal" are going into one gallon pots tonight!
