Hey guys, can you help me? I have an atlanticgiant pumpkin that can reach up to "700" pounds. I covered it, gave it potash, burried the vines. I been giving it "20 20 20" peters plant food with that micro stuff in it. I water it every two days. It's yellow yet, but the rib groves have orange lines in where they meet. Is it going to stop, or is this normal? The stem was bent alittle, but Im making ajustments to make it straight again. It's about "20" inches wide. Can you help me?

Hey Doug, Remember slow and easy. It sounds like you are off to a real good start. Slow growth the last few days can be attributed to the cooler than normal weather. It has been cold on my side of Lake Michigan, I'm sure you had some cool nights over on your side too. Most of the pumpkins that I've grown in years past have stayed yellow until the middle of September. Some pumpkins stay yellow, it is more of a genetic thing than a growth factor.

I asume that you plan on competing with your pumpkin. If so, then most weigh offs consider it a pumpkin if its at least 75% cream yellow to orange in color. I've seen your pictures and you do have nice pumpkin going.

Once the warmer temps. come back you should see a increase in growth. Dean o

Thanks for the complement. No, Im not competing, just want to grow a big pumpkin for my kids. I was afraid it stopped growing because it had some orange in it. So I'll just keep doing what Im doing.
