Hi....my hubby found a bug like this attacking and eating a much larger earthworm. That one got away, but I captured this one and have it in a container. I am taking it to the dept of agriculture as they could not identify it from my description. Does anyone out there know what this thing is?

looks like a mutant wire worm (usually yellow) very common in hen manure from your neck of the woods

Its the ground beetle alright. Thanks for identifing it. Another person in here came up with the same answer. I let him go last week. He was some happy to get back in my flower bed. (:
