I see in some of the diaries pictures of blossoms and a description of how many lobes it has. They seem the same to me. What does this mean and how many are best?

Each lobe on the blossum will be a row of seeds in the pumpkin.Ag's will be 3,4,5 and 6 lobed fruit. Most fruit will be 4 or 5 lobes. Some will be assymmetrical with odd shaped lobes or partial lobes or seeds with the lobes(kind of like a hernia). Some believe that more lobes will result in a bigger fruit. i like to see even lobes-better chance of a symmetrical shaped fruit. Seeds with the lobes can be bad news.

Great explanation cojoe. Here is a picture that defines the individual lobes. look for the sections at the bottom rather than the divisions at the top.
