Hi All,

My first year growing AG. My 1333 Dodge is running like crazy, covering about 250 square feet right now and seems to want to keep going but I've run out of room on three sides. Lots of females. Pollinated the first on the main vine 5 days ago and it is growing at an amazingly sloooowwww rate. Right now just approaching baseball size. Any thoughts? It's still shiny and is getting bigger. I also pollinated two females on a strong secondary that came from right near the stump - those are growing just as slowly.

There is very little growth the first several days. Around day 8 they really start to take off.

Thats pretty normal by my experience. You gotta have a little patience. Think of it this way. If its baseball size that means its roughly quadrupled its volume in 5 days.

So is one of mine, I think the rain has something to do with it, it was planted a week later than the others, since day one it has been raining, almost every other day, the plant needs sun. I will be keeping a pollinator plant and pulling the slow grower,,,,,if I can even get pollen.

Thanks for the replies - I was concerned that the plant may need more water than I've been giving it; also concerned about not enough potassium but it seemed like the plant wouldn't be growing nearly so well if these were the problem. I posted three pics in the Diary section.

As long as it stays nice and shiny...usually good to go. It will start to take off before you know it and then 3" in circumferance starts to add up fast.

Good luck...keep us posted...got a diary?
