If the Pumpkin grows even slightly does that mean that the pollination took? or will an unpollinated pumpkin grow a little bit and then abort?

i once tried that just to learn did it 3-4 times .i tied female shut never let it open to get pollinated it grew 4 days then turned white./aborted

i have had pumpkins that were pollinated die at 2 days and never gain any size also.from heat-i think heat or other reasons can kill off a pumpkin

Thanks Don,
Mine was only at 7.5 inches in circumference last night on day 8 and I was wondering if it is just the cold weather or if the pollination didn't take. It still looks looks nice and shiny and isn't turning white so it sounds like it is the former. Just wish we could finally get into the 70's around here.

just an FYI; for any that care. About 3 weeks ago while I was pruning vines there was a female blossom in the very tip of the growing vine that I tried to pluck since I already had my pollinations. I was only able to get the blossom with my nails and didn't want to damage the growing vine, I left it knowing that without the blossom the Pkin would wizzle up and die. Well it's three weeks later now and that stupid pkin is probably 18"cc it's got a huge stem and is standing up like it's waiting to get pollinated? I am just watching this thing wondering what is going to happen with it. Seems crazy and where I plucked the blossom off is just a smooth scar looks better than any other pkin. Not what I expected at all.
