A fruit contains the seeds of the plant, usually on the inside, but some like strawberries are on the outside. Vegetables have seeds, but not contained in an edible surround and we dont usually eat the seed of vegatables anyway, we just eat the leaves as in cabbages or roots as in carrots. There are exceptions to this but basicaly a fruit is a container for seeds to mature in.

Ben, They're all botanically classified as fruit. They get called vegatables because they are eaten as savoury dishes. Its not always clear though Rhubarb is classified as a fruit eaten as a sweet and counts as a vegatable at our horticultural shows.Mushrooms also classified as fruit.
