Subject: Help..., My soil is at a 5.5 what to do?

Hi, My pumpkins don't look so good as a mwtter of fact they look bad.I took a soils reading and my ph is 5.5. I just added lime to it will that work? Any advuce would be greatly needed, Thank you for your time and efforts, Rick

This is about where I was last year at this time. I started in August to build and have PH correct for this spring.
Lime will adjust if used in the correct amount but it will take several months. Over winter is what I expect. Even starting with an adjustment this spring you would be right far from 7.0 at this date.
Rethink your patch building program. You could be in dandy shape for next year.

Rick.........there are a couple of Calif. growers who come here from time to time. Look for Hatch or Duster. They know you area and soils. Most guys are glad to help another take a look at the situation and make a plan for the better patch.
