I am growing casper pumpkins which are already the size of normal jack o lanterns. The problem is the vines are taking over the yard. Someone told me that if I trim the vines a little that more nutrients will go to the pumpkins. So Should I trim them. Advice would be appreciated.

Don't go wacking them all back at once. Go ahead and pretty the place up but use caution. A little at a time over two weeks. Yes this usually triggers growth of the fruit. What the Atlantic Giant Growers do is cut the secondaries and burry the ends in soil.
