bottom of my pumpkin has a hole in it where the blossom was!!!!!!!!!!!can i do anything?big enough to put my index finger in duct taped it for now

OUCH! Dig out all the soft material carefully, pack with powdered Captan if you can. If not squirt the hole with any fungicide and pack with fungicide treated cotton balls.
Cross your fingers. Let air dry the matter up. Oh which way will it go? Sorry cross your fingers and wait it out.

That is called a blossom end split. If air is reaching in to the cavity, the pumpkin is done. Some plants continue growing with the blossom end split when the growers seal it with a caulk. Although this is just a temporary fix. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Shannon

I have seen a pumpkin split on the blossom as we watched! The grower packed it with a wax and managed to grow it to over 800 pounds! Lets just say it was one of the NH guys....and it was at the NHGPGA/NEPGA summer picnic last year.
