on staurday i will be weighing my 805 Pukos. The current measurements are 142.5 Circ, 80, EE and 86 SS, = 308.5 OTT or 603.5 pounds. as you can see from the measurements, it is not a very tall pumpkin, but man is it round, sorta like a inflated pancake. anyhow, since we are in the doldrums of august, i thought a little fun was needed. what is your guess, the 805 has always weighed heavy. is this the one that goes light? or does it fit the mold and go heavy like the rest? the AGGC list shows everything from over 1% to over 23% heavy for 805 offspring. my guess is 650 pounds (hey why not, it is my pumpkin,,,lol) what is your guess? the closer guess gets seeds shipped courtesy of my. it is a 805 x self.

The record here is about 657 pounds. It would be nice to top that, but it will of course be unofficial, as well it should. I would just like to see that I can run with the big German growers.

Just got back. The winner is Ben Bortner with his guess of 641 lbs. The actual weight is 641.3 lbs, or, 6.3% heavy. ben, send me an email with you address and I will ship you off some seeds as soon as they have thoroughly dried. Anyone else interested in some of these 805 Pukos x Self seeds please send me a SASBP to: Owen Olsen LRMC, CMR 402, Box 1127 APO AE 09180
I would like to thank Carrie Polka for helping me get this seed, without her I never would have been so lucky.
I also want to thank Joe Pukos for his advice during the season. After a 2 week period where the pumpkin was doing pretty good I email Joe and asked him if he had any advice. His answer was simple but wise, continue to do whatever you are doing, it is working.

641.3, and over the chart. Owen, that is great! My sincerous congratulations. Now you have to prepare all the data to send them to Mike, I wanna see'em soon in the AGGC web site.
What plans do you have for the pumpkin? You could look for buyer or organize an auction. I've seen many big fruits destroyed too soon, is a pity, when so many people can enjoy watching them.

Carlos, just got done sending an email to Mike for the AGGC.
It was starting to rot due to the split so I cut it open on one side and retrieved the seeds. It is in my front yard right now so it is getting some enjoyment as our paper did a story, people stop by and take pictures all the time, but it is starting to fall apart, will be in the compost soon.
