I have what looks to be mushy areas in my stem. What should I do? It has not grown for 10 days but I would like to keep it for a local contest. Contest is in 15 days. The pumpkin seems fine it is just effecting the stem at this point.Should I cut it off the vine now or leave it on? Thanks, Jeff

treat affected area with captan,or garden sulfur..The next step is gonna make your neighbors think you're nuts!! Put a fan on the stem..Keep it dusted daily with the sulfur/captan which ever you choose..Might want to scoop out the mushy part before you apply captan...

thanks for the advice Jeff, is this normal for the stem to have wet spots? This pumpkin also leaks from the fruit itself.
