First time AG grower here and having some success and a great deal of fun. My question is, to ramp up growth in the final few weeks, should I trim a couple of secondaries that are nearest the pumpkin? Will this give the pumpkin extra pounds or should I leave the vines and leaves intact?

Only remove or trim leaves that may touch and mark your tender skinned pumpkin. Any living leaf is producing something for you. Only remove vines that may harm you by having the pumpkin grow over them and then get heavy.

Thanks, there are so many opinions and theories that it is sometime hard to determine what is right and what is wacky! Any other advice?

Not really sure if you have done this already or not...but all your vine tips should be terminated if you have enough leaf count...Time is getting short and for maximum push towards the pumpkin start tipping all the vines. slowly if you haven't done it already. Grow em Big!

Thanks Doc, Ben and Alex's Dad. Yes, I did terminate the tips of all vines once they had reached the desired length and am keeping up on others that pop up out of nowhere. Both fruit seem to be chugging along and gaining 11-15 lbs minimum per day so I think all is OK.

If you are foliar feeding you could consider your regular feeding in the evening and drop a small percentage like 15 -20% increase again in the morning. I alternate kelp and fish, light application daily, to avoid spurts.
This practice has not caused spurts, for me. This has increased my grow by a few pounds per day.
